Group Lead Volunteer Induction
Are you a new Group Lead Volunteer? Or maybe an existing one just looking for additional support?
In either case we hope you'll find this information helpful:
Group Lead Volunteers play a pivotal part in Scouts as they co-ordinate and develop the sections and resources of each Scout Group. It's a role with huge opportunity to grow you as a person, alongside all the members of your team. It can be exciting and challenging as you plan, listen, encourage and negotiate with everybody around you. Over time, the experience can bring great satisfaction as long-term plans for improvements gradually come together.
As the Scout movement evolves, Group Lead Volunteers will continue to support their teams through the changes, and whether you are seasoned in the role or just starting out, we hope this page will direct you to the information you need.
New Group Lead Volunteers
If you are a new Group Lead Volunteer then there are four main resources to support you as you start your new role:
- Scouts.org.uk covers a range of essential topics for Group Lead Volunteers here
- A rolling programme of 6 interactive online workshops gives you an in-depth look at key topics as well as the chance to meet other Scouters who are also new.
- A downloadable induction checklist to help you keep track of your progress
- A Derbyshire Scouts induction meeting, at a time and place to suit you, to help remove potential blocks.
