What does Bushcraft offer

The information listed here is intended to help Leaders who would like to arrange Bushcraft for their section. It also has information for Leaders/Adults who would like to get involved with this activity.

Bushcraft SASU is a team of people who can come and visit your group or event. They can provide a range of different activities for your sectional meeting or event.

Bushcraft is a fully inclusive activity and it can be enjoyed by everyone. See full list of sections and any restrictions for this activity, at the end of this page. However, we would ask that we are informed of any food allergies before running an event.

Critter Challenges

No Bushcraft activity would be complete without a "Critter Challenge" and we source our critters from a local company, Crunchy Critters. As well as providing the critters, there is a wealth of information on their website about the nutritional and environmental benefits of eating insects.

  1. If you are planning a Critter Challenge on your own, do make sure you read the allergy information they provide.

Sessions

We can offer sessions on:
• Fire lighting using a range of techniques including fire steels, wire wool & solar fire starters
• Instruction Knife and Axe Skills
• Water purification

Be Prepared for Bushcraft

To help you prepare for this activity, here is a short list of things you may need to bring/wear or prepare for, before you turn up for your activity:
• Scouting is an outdoor organisation. Make sure you are dressed appropriately for that time of year.
• Fire lighting does generate some smoke. Wear some old clothes that do not matter if they get dirty and end up smelling of smoke.
• Please confirm when booking, any specific items you will need to bring with you for this activity.
