What does Tomahawk Throwing offer

The information listed here is intended to help Leaders who would like to arrange Tomahawk Throwing for their section. It also has information for Leaders/Adults who would like to get trained and get more involved with this activity.

Tomahawk throwing is a growing sport and can become very addictive. Once the basic techniques are mastered, you can have hours of fun! The Tomahawk SASU runs two training days per year to instruct new Leaders on how to safely enjoy this sport. Following successful completion of the course you will be able to run this activity for your own Groups. After completion of the course, Leaders will be added to the SASU database and will be able to hire the range at Drum Hill or run sessions using their own facilities.

Be Prepared for Tomahawk Throwing Activity

Everyone can enjoy this activity and we have had Leaders from all Sections attend our training courses. However, repeated throwing action and stretching/bending to collect tomahawks can be quite physical. Training takes place over a full day with a large amount of time spent on the outdoor range. Participants on the training course should be prepared for this and whatever the weather might be.

To help you prepare for this activity, here is a short list of things you may need to bring/wear or prepare for, before you turn up for your activity:
• Scouting is an outdoor organisation. Make sure you are dressed appropriately for that time of year.
• Long hair must be tied back while performing Tomahawk Throwing.
• Footwear must fully cover the foot, no opened toed shoes (Crocs, sandals, etc.).
